Curse Of The Black Gold
The world is going crazy about the environmental issues; the talk of the day is GREEN..It’s funny that they are all acting as if this is all new. The western world plays the rest of the world like a ping pong game. They tell us when to worry about environmental issues and when to raise our standards. It’s really shameful. For over 40years the western oil companies have been drilling oil in the Niger delta area of Nigeria and have continued to violate all enviromental and public health concerns in that region. The few courageous people that have dared to talk about this have with the help of corrupt regimes- been jailed or killed like KEN SARO WIWA.

I am starting this blog as a prelude to my upcoming movie. Vice president Al Gore got a Nobel Peace Prize. As much as I appreciate all the attention he is giving the environmental issues,I still wonder, what of men that laid their lives for the same cause. In Nigeria, Oil (Black Gold) has become a curse. People kill for the opportunity to get an oil block while the oil firms continue to abuse the land, oil spillages, gas flaring and encourage community violence. It is a shame that the US congress have never probed the activities of American Oil companies in Nigeria.

Everyday we hear the American press complain of the toys coming from China, I understand their concern, as their kids will be using those toys and their health is at risk. The health of over 3 million Niger Delta kids have been at risk for over 40 years. Let us know what issues you want this movie to explore. Join the blog as we try to bring this story to the movie theaters.
